About The Position

Visiting Angels Sumter is seeking compassionate Patient Care Assistants to support senior adults and others in need in Sumter and the surrounding Midlands area. The role provides companionship and assistance with daily activities, including personal care, mobility, meal preparation, light housekeeping, shopping, and transportation. Caregivers may also have opportunities for advanced training in dementia care or Alzheimer’s care. Shifts offered include full-time, part-time, 8-hour, 10-hour, 12-hour, PRN, short-shift, and live-in options.

Requirements

Passion for serving others and being a caregiver.
Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid.
Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking, with attention to dietary constraints.
Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards.
Respectful and compassionate demeanor.
Good time management skills.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong ethics.
Physical endurance.
High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

Background in home care or elderly care.
History of community involvement.

Responsibilities

Help clients take prescribed medication.
Assist clients with ambulation and mobility in or outside the home, including attending appointments and walks.
Assist clients with personal care and hygiene.
Help clients with routine exercises.
Plan and prepare meals with clients’ assistance when they are able.
Shop for clients or accompany them while shopping.
Perform light housekeeping duties clients cannot complete on their own.
Provide pleasant and supportive companionship.
Report unusual incidents.
Act quickly and responsibly in emergencies.
Provide transportation as needed.
