About The Position

Visiting Angels’ Sumter office is hiring caregivers to support senior adults and others in need across the Midlands area, including Sumter, Manning, Camden, Bishopville, and Dalzell. The role involves providing compassionate, individualized care and companionship to clients and support to their families. Duties range from light housekeeping and meal preparation to personal care, mobility assistance, and transportation. The position also offers opportunities for advanced training in areas such as dementia care and Alzheimer’s care. Available shift options include full-time, part-time, 8-hour, 10-hour, and 12-hour shifts, PRN, short shifts, and live-in care.

Requirements

Passion for serving others and a strong commitment to caregiving.
Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid.
Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking, with attention to dietary constraints.
Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards.
Respectful and compassionate approach.
Good time-management skills.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong ethics.
Physical endurance.
High school diploma or equivalent.

Strong background in home care or elderly care.

Responsibilities

Help clients take prescribed medication.
Assist clients with ambulation and mobility at home and outside, including doctor’s appointments and walks.
Assist clients with personal care and hygiene.
Help clients with routine exercises.
Plan and prepare meals with assistance from clients when they are able.
Do clients’ shopping or accompany them while they shop.
Perform light housekeeping duties clients cannot complete on their own.
Provide pleasant and supportive companionship.
Report unusual incidents.
Act quickly and responsibly in emergencies.
