About The Position

Visiting Angels of Owensboro is hiring a Patient Care Aide (PCA) to support elderly and home-care clients throughout the local area, including Henderson, Owensboro, Spottsville, and Stanley. The role helps clients remain or recover at home with dignity. Visits vary by client and may include personal care, light housekeeping, mobility assistance, meal preparation, shopping, exercise encouragement, and medication reminders. The aide must respond promptly to medical emergencies and report health changes or unusual circumstances. Shift options include full-time, part-time, 8-hour shifts, and short shifts.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Excellent time-management skills.
Reliable transportation to client visits.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with basic housekeeping and cooking tasks.
Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
Training or knowledge in First Aid and emergency response.
Compassion and interest in providing meaningful companionship to vulnerable people.
Willingness to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

Help clients with personal care and hygiene.
Perform light housekeeping.
Encourage clients to meet exercise and fitness goals.
Prompt clients to take prescription medications at the appropriate times.
Assist clients with shopping and putting away groceries, or shop on their behalf.
Plan and prepare meals in collaboration with clients, based on client ability.
Assist clients with mobility and ambulation, including moving around the home, visiting the doctor, and taking walks.
Act quickly in medical emergencies and report health changes or unusual circumstances.
