Patient Access Representative (Part Time)
About The Position
Provides a positive patient experience to patients and families while registering patients. The representative uses strong communication and customer service skills, accurately searches for and selects the correct patient, and gathers complete and accurate demographic and insurance information. The role identifies uninsured patients for referral to Medical Assistance/Charity Care evaluation, retrieves orders, confirms medical necessity, and answers phones for outpatient visits. This is a pool position rotating among outpatient sites including Abington Main Campus, Warminster, Blue Bell, and Willow Grove. The schedule is Tuesday through Thursday, 20 hours per week. The position is based at 225 Newtown Road, Warminster, Pennsylvania.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Three years of customer service experience.
Nice To Haves
- Associate’s degree in Healthcare or Business Administration.
Responsibilities
- Provide a positive experience to patients and families during registration.
- Accurately search for and select the correct patient.
- Gather accurate demographic and insurance information.
- Request and scan photo identification and insurance cards.
- Verify insurance coverage, referrals, and authorizations.
- Collect patient out-of-pocket liability at the time of service.
- Identify uninsured patients for referral to Medical Assistance/Charity Care evaluation.
- Retrieve orders and confirm medical necessity.
- Answer phones for outpatient visits.
- Interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with Jefferson’s values.
