About The Position

Adventist Health Ukiah Valley is hiring an onsite Patient Access Representative in Ukiah, California. This is a regular, full-time day-shift position scheduled for eight hours. The representative is responsible for timely and accurate patient registration, gathering relevant account information, verifying insurance, calculating and collecting patient liability amounts, and obtaining required treatment signatures. The role also involves answering patient questions and explaining policies, checking and attaching physician orders to patient records, preparing paperwork for the appropriate unit or department, and escorting or directing patients as needed.

Requirements

High school education, GED, or equivalent is preferred.
An associate or technical degree, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience, is preferred.
Receive required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter where applicable; medical and religious exemptions may apply.

Responsibilities

Register patients accurately and in a timely manner.
Interview patients to obtain pertinent account information.
Verify insurance, select the correct health plan, and research information to ensure accuracy.
Calculate and collect patient liability amounts.
Obtain all necessary signatures for treatment.
Answer questions and clearly explain policies.
Check for physician orders and attach them to the patient medical record to ensure patients receive appropriate tests.
Enter authorization information accurately as needed.
Print and collate paperwork for distribution to the appropriate unit or department.
Escort patients to their area or refer them to an available escort as needed.
Follow guidelines and instructions from senior staff.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
