About The Position

Adventist Health Castle is seeking a full-time, regular Patient Access Representative to work onsite in Kailua, Hawaii, on the day shift for eight hours. The role is responsible for timely and accurate patient registration, interviewing patients to obtain relevant account information, verifying insurance, calculating and collecting patient liability amounts, and obtaining required treatment signatures. The representative answers patient questions and clearly explains policies, checks physician orders and attaches them to the appropriate patient record, prepares paperwork for distribution to the relevant unit or department, and escorts patients or refers them to an available escort as needed.

Requirements

High school education, GED, or equivalent is preferred.
Associate’s or technical degree, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience, is preferred.

Experience in EPIC.

Responsibilities

Register patients accurately and in a timely manner, and interview them to obtain pertinent account information.
Verify insurance, select the correct health plan, research as needed to ensure accuracy, and enter authorization information accurately.
Calculate and collect patient liability amounts.
Obtain all necessary signatures for treatment.
Answer questions and explain policies clearly.
Check physician orders and attach them to the appropriate patient medical record to help ensure patients receive the appropriate tests.
Print and collate paperwork needed for each patient for distribution to the unit or department.
Escort patients to their area or refer them to an available escort as needed.
Follow guidelines and instructions from senior staff.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
