About The Position

Adventist Health Ukiah Valley is hiring an onsite Patient Access Representative in Ukiah, California. This is a regular, full-time day-shift position with 8-hour shifts. The representative is responsible for timely and accurate patient registration, interviewing patients to obtain pertinent account information, verifying insurance, calculating and collecting patient liability amounts, and obtaining required treatment signatures. The role also involves answering questions and explaining policies, checking and attaching physician orders to patient records, preparing paperwork for distribution to the appropriate unit or department, and escorting patients or arranging an escort as needed.

Requirements

• High school education, GED, or equivalent is preferred.
• Associate’s or technical degree, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience, is preferred.
• Must receive required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter where applicable; medical and religious exemptions may apply.

Responsibilities

• Register patients accurately and in a timely manner, and interview them to obtain pertinent account information.
• Verify insurance coverage, select the correct health plan, research coverage to ensure accuracy, and enter authorization information as needed.
• Calculate and collect patient liability amounts.
• Obtain all necessary signatures for treatment and answer questions while clearly explaining policies.
• Check for physician orders and attach them to the patient medical record to ensure the appropriate tests are received.
• Print and collate paperwork for distribution to the appropriate unit or department.
• Escort patients to their area or refer them to an available escort as needed.
• Follow guidelines and instructions from senior staff.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
