About The Position

This position greets customers and facilitates patient registration in a timely, professional, and courteous manner. It interviews patients or their representatives through face-to-face and virtual interactions to obtain demographic, financial, and minimum health information, along with documents and data needed for appropriate care and compliant, accurate registration and billing.

The role serves as a liaison between patients, Virtual Patient Registration Representatives, and Patient Schedulers. It also completes patient checkout, schedules follow-up appointments according to physician orders, and provides patients with cost estimates and itineraries for upcoming appointments.

Nice To Haves

• Previous Patient Access Representative or Patient Scheduler experience.
• Complete Healthcare Business Insight’s Patient Access 2nd Level Certification Program within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients to obtain complete demographic details, financial information, and minimum health information to support appropriate care.
• Obtain copies of insurance cards and other identification, and update patient information in the medical record as necessary.
• Collect point-of-service information and payments, including identifying and collecting co-payments and down payments; reconcile the cash drawer and report daily deposit records.
• Maintain assigned work queues according to supervisor instructions and guidance.
• Interact positively and compassionately with patients, co-workers, and others to provide a high level of customer service.
• Answer incoming phone calls, schedule appointments, and refer matters to the clinical team as needed.
• Sanitize registration equipment between uses and restock basic supplies.
• Complete patient checkout, schedule physician-ordered follow-up appointments, and provide cost estimates and itineraries for upcoming appointments.
• Perform other clerical duties as assigned.
