About The Position

The Patient Access Representative 1 greets patients, schedules appointments, updates patient demographics, verifies insurance eligibility, and supports patient access activities at the Durant Clinic. This is a full-time position scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The role reports to the Manager. Weekly Earned Wage Access is an option for this position.

Requirements

• Knowledge of HIPAA.
• Experience verifying and sequencing Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance.
• At least one year of experience in a medical office setting.

Responsibilities

• Establish, update, and correct patient chart information using eligibility guidelines.
• Check patients in and out, answer phones, deliver messages, and contact patients regarding follow-ups and missed appointments.
• Verify insurance eligibility and assign referrals to the Benefit Coordinator.
• Complete Medicare Secondary Payer questionnaires for Medicare patients.
• Educate patients about health insurance, tribal membership, CDIB cards, the Affordable Care Act, and VA benefits.
• Scan documentation in Vista Imaging according to policy.
• Maintain accurate patient information records.
• Address patient requests from the patient portal, create charts, schedule appointments, and update medical records and demographic information as needed.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
