About The Position

The Patient Access Representative 1 registers patients for clinical services by obtaining pertinent information, verifying insurance benefits, and collecting payments. This is an on-site, full-time position at UHealth Tower, scheduled Monday through Friday from 4:30 AM to 1:00 PM. The role performs patient registration, verifies insurance and patient information, obtains copies of insurance cards, driver’s licenses, and applicable referrals, and explains treatment consent, financial liability, and HIPAA forms for patients to sign. The representative also guides patients through required questionnaires, manages follow-up and appointment changes, records no-shows, reconciles and delivers vouchers, and responds to telephone inquiries. The position follows University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. Duties may vary with departmental needs and may include other responsibilities consistent with the role.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 1 year of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Perform full patient registration and ensure insurance is verified and patient information is correct.
Obtain copies of insurance cards, driver’s licenses, and applicable referrals.
Explain Consent for Treatment, Financial Liability, and HIPAA to patients and obtain signed forms.
Instruct patients to complete questionnaires required by the physician.
Schedule follow-up appointments, cancel and edit appointments, and accurately record no-show patients.
Reconcile vouchers and deliver them to the designated area.
Answer telephone calls, respond to questions and inquiries, or transfer calls when appropriate.
Follow University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
