Patient Access Acute Representative 1
About The Position
A Patient Access Registrations Specialist I provides excellent customer service and facilitates patient and visitor registration and scheduling at Intermountain Health. The caregiver collects and enters accurate, complete information, verifies insurance and eligibility, collects co-pays and balances, and follows up on pending issues. The caregiver follows Intermountain Health policies and procedures and applicable federal and state requirements regarding patient privacy and confidentiality. The scheduled shifts are Fridays from 5:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Mondays from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The position is located at Intermountain Health St Vincent Regional Hospital in Billings, Montana, and is scheduled for 36 hours per week. The hourly range is $18.85–$25.61, with the actual rate dependent on experience.
Requirements
- Customer service experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office, the internet, and email.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Experience with Epic.
Responsibilities
- Greet and assist patients and visitors courteously and professionally.
- Obtain and verify patient demographic, financial, and insurance information.
- Register and schedule patients for appointments, tests, and procedures.
- Collect and process co-pays, deductibles, and balances due at the time of service.
- Provide information about financial assistance, payment plans, and charity care.
- Explain consent forms, policies, and disclosures and obtain signatures.
- Provide patients with directions, maps, and parking information.
- Coordinate with clinical and administrative staff to support patient flow and quality care.
- Document and update patient records in the electronic health system.
- Follow up on pending issues, including prior authorizations, referrals, and pre-certifications.
