About The Position

A Patient Access Registration Specialist I provides customer service and facilitates patient registration and scheduling at Intermountain Health. The caregiver gathers and enters accurate patient information, verifies insurance and eligibility, collects payments, and follows up on pending issues. The role also requires compliance with Intermountain Health policies and applicable federal and state patient privacy and confidentiality regulations. This is a PRN, as-needed position with various shifts, including weekends. The position is located at St James Hospital in Butte, Montana, and has 0 scheduled weekly hours.

Requirements

Demonstrated proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office, the internet, and email.
Customer service experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Experience with Epic is preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet and assist patients and visitors courteously and professionally.
Obtain and verify patient demographic, financial, and insurance information.
Register and schedule patients for appointments, tests, and procedures.
Collect and process co-pays, deductibles, and balances due at the time of service.
Provide information about financial assistance, payment plans, and charity care.
Explain consent forms, policies, and disclosures and obtain signatures.
Provide directions, maps, and parking information.
Coordinate with clinical and administrative staff to support patient flow and quality care.
Document and update patient records in the electronic health system.
Follow up on pending issues, including prior authorizations, referrals, and pre-certifications.
Follow Intermountain Health policies and applicable federal and state patient privacy and confidentiality regulations.
