About The Position

A Patient Access Registration Specialist I provides customer service and facilitates patient registration and scheduling at Intermountain Health. The caregiver collects and enters accurate information, verifies insurance and eligibility, collects co-pays and balances, and follows up on pending issues. The role requires adherence to Intermountain Health policies and procedures and to federal and state rules regarding patient privacy and confidentiality. This is a PRN, as-needed position with varying shifts, based at St James Hospital in Butte, Montana. Scheduled weekly hours are listed as 0.

Requirements

Customer service experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
Demonstrated proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office, the internet, and email.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Experience with Epic is preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet and assist patients and visitors courteously and professionally.
Obtain and verify patient demographic, financial, and insurance information.
Register and schedule patients for appointments, tests, and procedures.
Collect and process co-pays, deductibles, and balances due at the time of service.
Provide information about financial assistance, payment plans, and charity care.
Explain consent forms, policies, and disclosures and obtain signatures.
Provide directions, maps, and parking information.
Coordinate with clinical and administrative staff to support smooth patient flow and quality care.
Document and update patient records in the electronic health system.
Follow up on pending issues, including prior authorizations, referrals, and pre-certifications.
Comply with applicable policies and procedures and privacy and confidentiality regulations.
