About The Position

The Patient Access Representative is an administrative assistant who helps patients gain access to medical treatment facilities. The role requires strong communication with members of the public and accurate data recording. In a medical setting, the representative processes information needed for patient admission and dismissal, as well as insurance billing.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Strong computer skills in MS Office/Windows, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and EMR.

Responsibilities

Greet patients and their caregivers and enter pertinent information into a computer database.
Record insurance information and obtain pre-approval for treatment when needed.
Relay information between patients and other staff members and provide updates as needed.
Prioritize the order of care so the most critical patients are seen first.
Maintain paper and electronic medical records and update them as needed.
Provide information to insurance companies to assist with billing.
Assist patients during checkout and ensure they receive post-treatment instructions when required.
Refer individuals to outside agencies when their needs cannot be met.
Calculate payment information, accept funds, and credit accounts accordingly.
Perform other duties as assigned.
