About The Position

UnityPoint Health – Meriter is seeking a Patient Access Representative to support a smooth, accurate, and welcoming experience for patients and visitors. The role supports patient admission, registration, insurance verification, and scheduling, ensuring interactions are efficient and compliant with financial and insurance requirements. The position is 0.7 FTE on a day-shift schedule: Week 1, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; Week 2, Sunday, Thursday, and Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. UnityPoint Health describes its Total Rewards program as offering benefits options focused on employees’ needs and priorities. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least two years of customer service or healthcare-related experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Collect, analyze, and record demographic, insurance, financial, and clinical data accurately in the system, ensuring required documentation is complete.
Maintain knowledge of insurance plans and verification processes.
Answer and route phone calls professionally and take accurate messages.
Educate patients about financial obligations, including point-of-service collections and estimates.
Assist with patient self-service registration processes.
Monitor and manage multiple work queues to ensure timely workflow.
Refer patients who need financial assistance with clinic or hospital bills to a Financial Advocate.
Schedule walk-in procedures and collaborate with central scheduling regarding other needs.
