About The Position

The Patient Access Representative 3 (On-Site) oversees registration and financial clearance activities that facilitate reimbursement for services rendered by the department. The role also serves as a functional expert for department peers and a lead resource for lower-level Patient Access Representatives. The position is with the University of Miami UHealth Patient Access department at SoLé Mia.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures and principles.
Ability to complete assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
An appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Responsibilities

Obtain, confirm, and enter demographic, financial, and clinical information needed for financial clearance of scheduled patient accounts.
Contact patients’ families or physicians’ offices to obtain missing insurance information.
Verify insurance and confirm patient coverage eligibility and benefits; notify the patient and referring physician when eligibility fails.
Collaborate with scheduling departments to identify add-on patients.
Obtain necessary authorizations, pre-certifications, and referrals.
Notify patients of liabilities before the date of service and collect funds.
Maintain appropriate records and files and accurate documentation in the system of record.
Serve as a lead resource for lower-level Patient Access Representatives.
Recommend new approaches to management to enhance performance and productivity.
Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
Perform other duties or responsibilities as necessary.
