About The Position

The Patient Access Representative 2 registers patients for clinical services by collecting pertinent information, verifying insurance benefits, explaining relevant documents, and collecting payments. The role is full-time and on-site at UHealth at Doral, a University of Miami Health System facility providing ambulatory and specialized medical services.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Two years of relevant experience.
General knowledge of office procedures and operations.
Data-entry skills with minimal errors.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to complete assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
An appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Responsibilities

Obtain, confirm, and enter demographic, financial, and clinical information needed to financially clear scheduled patient accounts.
Contact patients’ families or physicians’ offices to obtain missing insurance information.
Verify insurance and confirm eligibility and coverage benefits; notify the patient and referring physician when eligibility fails.
Collaborate with scheduling departments to identify add-on patients.
Obtain necessary authorizations, pre-certifications, and referrals.
Notify patients of financial liabilities and collect funds.
Maintain appropriate records, files, and accurate documentation in the system of record.
Follow University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
Perform other duties or responsibilities as necessary.
