About The Position

The Patient Access Representative 1 registers patients for clinical services at the University of Miami’s UHealth Primary Care North Miami location. The role involves collecting pertinent patient information, verifying insurance benefits, and collecting payments. This is an on-site position within the Department of Clinical Access. The University of Miami describes UHealth as South Florida’s only university-based health system, providing patient care supported by research and medical education at the Miller School of Medicine.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
General knowledge of office procedures and operations.
Skill in data entry with minimal errors.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to complete assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.

Responsibilities

Complete patient registration and verify insurance and the accuracy of patient information.
Obtain copies of insurance cards, driver’s licenses, and applicable referrals.
Explain the Consent for Treatment, Financial Liability, and HIPAA forms to patients and obtain signed forms.
Instruct patients to complete questionnaires required by physicians.
Schedule follow-up appointments, cancel and edit appointments, and accurately record no-show patients.
Reconcile vouchers and deliver them to the designated area.
Answer telephone calls, respond to questions and inquiries, or transfer calls when appropriate.
Follow University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
Perform other duties or responsibilities as necessary.
