About The Position

The Patient Access Representative 1 registers patients for clinical services at the University of Miami/UHealth Department of Clinical Access. The role obtains pertinent patient information, verifies insurance benefits, and collects payments. This is an on-site position at the North Miami location.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 1 year of relevant experience.
General knowledge of office procedures and operations.
Data-entry skills with minimal errors.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to complete assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.

Responsibilities

Performs full registration and ensures insurance is verified and patient information is correct.
Obtains copies of insurance cards, driver’s licenses, and applicable referrals.
Explains Consent for Treatment, Financial Liability, and HIPAA to patients and obtains signed forms.
Instructs patients to complete questionnaires required by the physician.
Schedules follow-up appointments, cancels and edits appointments, and accurately records no-show patients.
Reconciles vouchers and delivers them to the designated area.
Answers telephone calls, responds to questions and inquiries, or transfers calls when appropriate.
Follows University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
May perform additional duties or responsibilities as necessary.
