About The Position

Adventist Rehabilitation - Rockville Adventist HealthCare seeks to hire an experienced Patient Access Registrar for our Rehabilitation department who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience within a healthcare environment. Can include insurers or public health settings as well
  • At least 1 year of experience in patient registration and/or eligibility and benefits
  • Requires some knowledge/training in government payer rules and regulations
  • Requires some knowledge/training regarding TPLs, WC, and other payment sources and liabilities
  • High School Graduate or equivalent. Some college preferred
  • Must demonstrate ability to multitask and work under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Basic knowledge of office equipment and PC skills

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate excellent patient service skills, assist in problem resolution, both internal and external
  • Demonstrate world-class, exceptional customer service and set an example of correct phone etiquette
  • Promote teamwork and a positive work environment
  • Communicate with management when issues arise
  • Demonstrate an ability to differentiate between self-empowered troubleshooting issues and escalating issues to management
  • Assist with the training of new team members
  • Independently solve and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Completes follow-up in accordance with department policy.
  • Escalate appropriate issues to management
  • Verify the accuracy of all insurance information
  • Conduct patient account assessments
  • Verify insurance eligibility for all patients
  • Attempt to ensure patient liabilities are paid in full at the time of service
  • Communicate clearly to the patient or patient designee, insurance coverages/benefits, patient financial obligations, and the impact of unpaid services
  • Coordinate bed placement according to hospital guidelines and/or given staffing guidelines
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
