About The Position

The Patient Access Intake Representative performs a wide variety of duties to facilitate patient access throughout the organization. The role helps ensure patient compliance with applicable hospital policies, obtains accurate patient information to support patient safety and optimal reimbursement in accordance with external regulations, and determines and actively collects patient liabilities. The position is based at Tobey Hospital in Wareham, Massachusetts, and is scheduled for 40 hours. Shifts are 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. or 10:30 a.m.–7:00 p.m., with weekend and holiday rotation. The representative works under the general direction of the Manager, Patient Access, and the supervision of the Team Leader, Patient Access, or designee.

Requirements

High school completion or equivalent, plus additional courses or training required.
Medical Terminology Certificate required.
Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong computer skills, including medical-based programs.
Three years of related healthcare experience, including experience working with third-party payers.
Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal influenza and COVID-19, or qualify for an exemption for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying the choice to be exempt from vaccination once hired.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, and other software programs preferred.
CHAM (Certified Healthcare Access Manager) or CHAA (Certified Healthcare Access Associate) preferred.
