About The Position

Southcoast Health is seeking a Patient Access Intake Representative to facilitate patient access throughout the organization. Under the general direction of the Manager, Patient Access and the supervision of the Team Leader, Patient Access, or designee, this role obtains accurate patient information, supports compliance with hospital policies and external regulations, helps ensure patient safety and optimal reimbursement, and determines and actively collects patient liabilities. The position is based at Tobey Hospital in Wareham, Massachusetts, and is scheduled for 40 hours per week on day/evening shifts, with weekend and holiday rotation. Pay is determined by experience.

Requirements

Education equal to completion of four years of high school, plus any additional required courses or training.
Medical Terminology Certificate required.
Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong computer skills, including medical-based programs.
Three years of related health care experience, including work with third-party payers.
Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal influenza and COVID-19, or obtain an exemption for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying the choice to be exempt from vaccination once hired.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, and other software programs preferred.
CHAM (Certified Healthcare Access Manager) or CHAA (Certified Healthcare Access Associate) preferred.
