About The Position
At El Rancho Supermercado, the Pastry Decorator supports the bakery department by preparing fresh baked goods daily, following recipes, and labeling and storing products. The position prepares and assembles quality food products in a fast-paced environment and serves as a role model for the company by providing excellent customer service and upholding its core values. The Pastry Decorator assists with desserts, pastries, breads, cookies, and pan dulce; decorates cakes and pastries; takes customer orders; and helps keep the department stocked and supplied. The role also uses professional bakery equipment and maintains quality, cleanliness, organization, safety, sanitation, loss prevention, and food-safety standards.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Food Handlers Card.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities
- Greet and interact with customers, addressing questions and concerns in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
- Assist the pastry team with preparing desserts and pastries as needed.
- Take cake orders and food orders in person and by telephone.
- Ensure the department has fresh fruit and products and maintain a fully stocked display case.
- Support baking breads, cookies, desserts, and pan dulce.
- Decorate cakes and pastries, using artistic skills to create designs and mix icing colors.
- Communicate with management and the baking team to address guest requests, issues, and other needs.
- Conduct regular inventory to ensure proper product levels.
- Maintain quality, cleanliness, organization, customer service, safety, loss prevention, sanitation, department-condition, and food-safety standards.
- Stock, fill, and face products; ensure pricing accuracy; rotate bakery products; and discard outdated or spoiled items.
- Use bakery equipment, including heat sources, mixers, and blenders.
- Improve the speed and efficiency of customer service.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
