About The Position

The Pastry Clerk provides quality customer service in a retail store environment and serves as a role model for the company by delivering excellent service while upholding its core values. The role supports the pastry team with baking breads, cookies, and desserts, including pan dulce, and helps maintain product displays, department conditions, and food safety standards. The position involves customer interaction, taking orders in person and by telephone, stocking and rotating products, and using professional pastry equipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Food Handlers Card.
• Ability to walk continuously throughout the shift while moving about the store and handling merchandise.
• Ability to stand continuously throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Customer service and retail experience.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Greet and interact with customers, addressing questions or concerns in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
• Organize products in display cases and on tables, ensuring cases are fully stocked.
• Support the team in baking breads, cookies, and desserts, including pan dulce.
• Maintain standards for quality, cleanliness, organization, customer service, safety, loss prevention, sanitation, department conditions, and food safety.
• Stock, fill, and face products; ensure pricing accuracy; rotate pastry products; and discard outdated or spoiled items.
• Use professional pastry equipment, including heat sources, mixers, and blenders.
• Take food orders in person and by telephone.
• Demonstrate customer service excellence, engage with customers, and improve service speed and efficiency.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
