About The Position

The Pastry Clerk delivers quality customer service in a retail store environment and serves as a role model for the company by providing excellent customer service while maintaining company core values. The role supports pastry operations, including stocking and organizing products, assisting with baking, handling customer orders, and maintaining quality, cleanliness, safety, sanitation, and food safety standards. The listed duties and requirements are representative and not exhaustive; other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid Food Handlers Card.
Ability to walk and stand continuously throughout the shift while moving about the store and handling merchandise.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Customer service and retail experience is desirable.
Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

Greet and interact with customers in a friendly, service-oriented manner to address questions or concerns.
Organize products in display cases and on tables and ensure cases are fully stocked.
Support the team in baking breads, cookies, and desserts, including pan dulce.
Maintain standards for quality, cleanliness, organization, customer service, safety, loss prevention, sanitation, department conditions, and food safety.
Stock, fill, and face products; ensure pricing accuracy; examine product rotation; and discard outdated or spoiled items.
Use pastry equipment, including heat sources, mixers, and blenders.
Take food orders in person and by telephone.
Demonstrate customer service excellence and engage with customers.
Improve the speed and efficiency of service.
Perform other duties as assigned.
