About The Position

American Girl is seeking a part-time Party Planner to deliver a premier party experience in conjunction with its Bistro. The role works one-on-one with party guests to create enjoyable events through strong communication and organization, following American Girl specifications. The Party Planner works in a fast-paced environment and supports party operations from pre-event communication through service, event activities, cleanup, and follow-up. The role is part of the American Girl Retail Team and requires the employee to be at least 18 years old.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
High school degree or equivalent.
At least 6 months of work experience in customer relations, parties, or events.
Good verbal and communication skills.
Enjoy public speaking and working with children, and have a warm, friendly demeanor.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to perform diverse physical tasks, including lifting approximately 30–50 pounds and transporting full trays and bus tubs weighing up to 30 pounds.
Ability to stand and walk constantly and work in a loud environment.

Nice To Haves

Undergraduate education.
One to two years of experience in a high-volume, fine-casual dining or related restaurant.
Experience working with children.
Current ServeSafe certification.

Responsibilities

Coordinate pre-event communications with customers and carry out timely steps of party execution.
Create and maintain a pleasant ambiance in dining and party rooms.
Work with the party team to greet and seat guests, share store and event information, take and deliver food and beverage orders, upsell, and serve the party throughout the event.
Prepare desserts and to-go transactions, deliver and process checks, bus and reset tables, clean up daily, and restock supplies.
Meet sales goals and budgetary guidelines; work with external vendors and place product orders in a timely manner.
Provide an exceptional party experience and resolve customer service issues and requests graciously.
Execute events to American Girl standards, including games, crafts, and doll hair styling and skin care.
Maintain ongoing party communications with staff, management, and the Retail Sales and Services department.
Follow local and state health sanitation laws and food and workplace safety guidelines.
Assign and complete daily tasks and side-work assignments for front-of-house and back-of-house areas consistently and promptly.
Maintain thorough knowledge of the InfoGenesis system and ensure transactions follow company policy.
Take initiative to train, teach, and assist teammates, including helping in other restaurant areas when needed.
