About The Position

Plan, coordinate, and facilitate events, including children’s birthday parties, craft classes, and other activities within a Michaels store. Provide guests with a fun, creative, and stress-free experience while delivering friendly customer service and assisting shoppers. The role also supports checkout, store operations, merchandise recovery, stocking, cleanliness, and safety standards. Work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings.

Requirements

Retail and/or customer service experience is required.
Experience working with children and children’s events is required.
Excellent people skills and the ability to interact effectively with guests of all ages and coworkers.
Ability to handle job stress and remain positive and respectful in difficult situations.
Good written, verbal, nonverbal, and listening communication skills.
Organizational, interpersonal, and creative problem-solving skills.
Ability to remain standing for long periods and move throughout the store.
Ability to bend, lift, carry, reach, and stretch regularly.
Ability to lift heavy boxes and access high shelves using a ladder or similar equipment.

Responsibilities

Plan and coordinate multiple events at once, including children’s birthday parties, craft classes, and other events.
Engage guests of all ages and create an environment of fun and creativity.
Demonstrate and teach craft projects, provide face painting, and lead other activities.
Facilitate party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons according to company standards.
Communicate event details with clients and store team members.
Answer emails and phone calls and complete event paperwork and other administrative tasks.
Adjust plans to client feedback and needs, prepare backup or emergency plans, and ensure client satisfaction.
Set up, break down, and clean event areas while upholding company cleanliness and safety standards.
Help customers locate products and find solutions, provide fast and friendly checkout, and promote Rewards and Private Label Credit Card programs.
Educate customers about the Voice of Customer survey and assist with Buy Online Pickup in Store and Ship From Store processes.
Participate in truck unloading, stocking, planogram processes, merchandise recovery, maintenance, Store in Stock Optimization, and ad-set duties as assigned.
Support shrink and safety programs and follow company policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
Interact respectfully with customers and colleagues, maintain a positive attitude, and serve as a role model for other team members.
Cross-train in Custom Framing sales and production.
Participate in daily store cleaning, including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and restroom maintenance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
