About The Position

The Party & Event Host plans, coordinates, and facilitates events—including children’s birthday parties, craft classes, and other events—within a Michaels store. The role creates a fun, creative, and stress-free experience for guests of all ages by demonstrating and instructing craft projects, performing face painting and other activities, managing event add-ons, and adapting plans to client feedback and needs. It also involves event communications and administrative work, preparation and cleanup, and maintaining client satisfaction and safety standards. The position also supports store operations and customer experience. Duties include helping customers find products and solutions, providing fast and friendly checkout, promoting rewards and credit-card programs, assisting with BOPIS and SFS processes, and supporting stocking, truck unloading, merchandise recovery, store cleanliness, safety, and shrink programs. Team members may be cross-trained in Custom Framing sales and production and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Retail and/or customer service experience is required.
Experience working with children and children’s events is required.
Excellent people skills.
Good written, verbal, and nonverbal communication and listening skills.
Organizational, interpersonal, and creative problem-solving skills.
Ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with guests of all ages and co-workers.
Ability to remain standing for long periods and move throughout the store.
Ability to bend, lift, carry, reach, and stretch regularly.
Ability to lift heavy boxes and access high shelves using a ladder or similar equipment.

Responsibilities

Plan and coordinate multiple events, including children’s birthday parties, craft classes, and other events.
Engage guests of all ages and create an environment of fun and creativity.
Demonstrate and instruct craft projects, perform face painting, and lead other activities.
Facilitate party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons according to company standards.
Communicate event details with clients and store team members.
Complete event-related administrative tasks, including emails, phone calls, and paperwork.
Adjust plans based on client feedback and needs, and create backup or emergency plans as needed.
Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
Set up, break down, and clean before and after events while upholding cleanliness and safety standards.
Help customers shop, locate products, and find solutions.
Provide a fast and friendly checkout experience.
Explain the benefits of the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments.
Educate customers about the Voice of Customer survey.
Assist with Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS) processes.
Participate in truck unloading, stocking, and planogram processes.
Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance.
Perform Store in Stock Optimization (SISO) and ad set duties as assigned.
Support shrink and safety programs and follow company procedures, policies, and standards.
Interact with others respectfully, promote company values, and serve as a positive role model for team members.
Cross-train in Custom Framing sales and production.
Participate in daily store cleaning, including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and restroom maintenance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
