About The Position

Plan, coordinate, and facilitate events, including children’s birthday parties and craft classes, in a Michaels store. Create a fun, creative, and engaging experience for guests while providing friendly customer service, helping customers find products, and supporting a fast checkout experience. The role also performs store operations such as truck unloading, stocking, merchandise recovery, and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards. Work takes place in a public retail store; hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings.

Requirements

• Retail and/or customer service experience is required.
• Must have experience working with children and children’s events.
• Excellent people skills.
• Good written, verbal, and nonverbal communication and listening skills.
• Organizational, interpersonal, and creative problem-solving skills.
• Ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with guests of all ages and coworkers.
• Ability to remain standing for long periods and move throughout the store.
• Ability to bend, lift, carry, reach, and stretch regularly.
• Ability to lift heavy boxes and access high shelves using a ladder or similar equipment.
• Must satisfy applicable federal, state, and local legal requirements.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate multiple events, including children’s birthday parties, craft classes, and other events.
• Engage guests of all ages and create a fun, creative environment.
• Demonstrate and instruct craft projects, face painting, and other activities.
• Facilitate party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons according to company standards.
• Communicate event details with clients and store team members.
• Answer emails and phone calls and complete event paperwork as needed.
• Adjust event plans based on client feedback and needs, and create backup or emergency plans.
• Ensure client satisfaction and set up, break down, and clean before and after each event.
• Uphold cleanliness and safety standards.
• Help customers locate products and provide solutions.
• Provide a fast and friendly checkout experience.
• Promote the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments.
• Educate customers about the Voice of Customer survey.
• Assist with Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS) processes.
• Participate in truck unloading, stocking, and planogram processes.
• Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance, Store in Stock Optimization (SISO), and ad set duties as assigned.
• Support shrink and safety programs and follow company procedures, policies, and standards.
• Interact respectfully with customers and coworkers, maintain a positive approach, and serve as a role model for team members.
• Cross-train in Custom Framing sales and production.
• Participate in daily store-cleanliness activities, including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and restroom upkeep.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
