About The Position

Plan, coordinate, and facilitate events—including children’s birthday parties, craft classes, and other events—within a Michaels store to provide guests with a fun, engaging, and stress-free experience. Help customers shop, locate products, and find solutions while providing friendly, efficient checkout service. Complete store operations and merchandise tasks as needed, including truck unloading, stocking, recovery, and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards. This role works in a public retail setting and may involve nights, weekends, and early mornings.

Requirements

Retail and/or customer service experience is required.
Experience working with children and children’s events is required.
Excellent people skills and the ability to interact effectively with guests of all ages and coworkers.
Energetic and enthusiastic personality.
Ability to handle job stress and remain positive and respectful, including in difficult situations.
Good written, verbal, and nonverbal communication and listening skills.
Organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and creative problem-solving skills.
Ability to remain standing for long periods and move throughout the store.
Ability to bend, lift, carry, reach, and stretch regularly; lift heavy boxes and access high shelves using a ladder or similar equipment.

Responsibilities

Plan and coordinate multiple events at once, including children’s birthday parties and craft classes.
Engage guests of all ages and create an environment of fun and creativity.
Demonstrate and instruct participants in craft projects, face painting, and other activities.
Facilitate event add-ons such as goody bags and balloons according to company standards.
Communicate event details with clients and store team members; complete related emails, phone calls, and paperwork.
Adjust event plans to client feedback and needs, prepare backup or emergency plans, and ensure client satisfaction.
Set up, break down, and clean event areas before and after events; uphold cleanliness and safety standards.
Help customers locate products and provide shopping solutions and a fast, friendly checkout experience.
Promote the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards, complete enrollments, and educate customers about the Voice of Customer survey.
Assist with omnichannel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS).
Participate in truck unloading, stocking, planogram processes, Store in Stock Optimization (SISO), and ad-set duties as assigned.
Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance and support shrink and safety programs.
Follow standard operating procedures, company programs, policies, and standards to comply with applicable laws and requirements.
Interact with others in an accepting and respectful manner, maintain a positive attitude, and model the organization’s vision and values.
Cross-train in Custom Framing sales and production.
Participate in daily store-cleanliness activities, including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and maintaining restrooms.
Perform other duties as assigned.
