About The Position

The Party & Event Host plans, coordinates, and facilitates events—including children’s birthday parties and craft classes—at a Michaels store, creating a fun, engaging, and stress-free experience for guests. The role includes demonstrating and instructing craft projects, conducting activities such as face painting, preparing event add-ons, communicating with clients and store team members, handling event-related administration, adapting plans to feedback, and ensuring client satisfaction. Hosts set up, break down, and clean event spaces while following company cleanliness and safety standards. The position also supports the store’s customer experience and daily operations. Duties include helping customers find products, providing a fast and friendly checkout, promoting Rewards and Private Label Credit Cards, assisting with online-order processes, unloading and stocking merchandise, maintaining store recovery standards, and supporting shrink, safety, and cleanliness programs. Team members are cross-trained in Custom Framing sales and production and may perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Retail and/or customer service experience is required.
Must have experience working with children and children’s events.
Must have excellent people skills and the ability to interact effectively with guests of all ages and coworkers.
Must be energetic and enthusiastic.
Must have written, verbal, and nonverbal communication skills, including listening skills.
Must have organizational, interpersonal, and creative problem-solving skills.
Must be able to handle job stress and interact effectively with others.
Ability to remain standing for long periods and move throughout the store.
Ability to bend, lift, carry, reach, and stretch regularly; lift heavy boxes; and access high shelves using a ladder or similar equipment.

Responsibilities

Plan and coordinate multiple events, including children’s birthday parties, craft classes, and other store events.
Engage guests of all ages and create a fun, creative environment.
Demonstrate and instruct craft projects, provide face painting, and lead other event activities.
Facilitate event add-ons such as goody bags and balloons according to company standards.
Communicate event details with clients and store team members.
Answer emails, make phone calls, complete paperwork, and perform other event administration.
Adjust events based on client feedback and needs, prepare backup or emergency plans, and ensure client satisfaction.
Set up, break down, and clean before and after events while upholding cleanliness and safety standards.
Help customers shop, locate products, and find solutions.
Provide a fast and friendly checkout experience; explain Rewards and Private Label Credit Card benefits, complete enrollments, and educate customers about the Voice of Customer survey.
Assist with omnichannel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS).
Participate in truck unloading, stocking, planogram processes, merchandise recovery, and maintenance.
Perform Store in Stock Optimization (SISO) and ad-set duties as assigned.
Support shrink and safety programs and follow company policies, standard operating procedures, and applicable requirements.
Interact respectfully and positively with customers and coworkers and serve as a role model for other team members.
Cross-train in Custom Framing sales and production.
Participate in daily store cleanliness activities, including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and restroom maintenance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
