About The Position

Under general supervision, purchases and provides an inventory of all parts and supplies for the City’s Public Works and Municipal Utilities Department. The role supports purchasing, inventory control, maintenance work orders, uniform ordering, and office services. The coordinator interacts with vendors, suppliers, City staff, and the public, and may be required to help deliver or restore vital services during emergencies.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent, and two years of experience in purchasing, inventory control, and staff support operations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid Texas Driver’s License.
Knowledge of City organization, operations, policies, and procedures; wastewater treatment principles, methods, and practices; purchasing and inventory management; modern office support; effective customer service; TCEQ; safety rules and regulations; computers; and spreadsheet software.
Skill in diplomacy, fairness, firmness, and sound judgment; efficient customer service; applying City policies and procedures; establishing cooperative working relationships; and communicating effectively verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

May participate in creating requisitions and staff reports for purchasing activities.
Research and document parts and supplies; consult with vendors and suppliers.
Oversee and document maintenance work orders.
Maintain inventory of parts, materials, chemicals, office supplies, and janitorial supplies.
Order staff uniforms and process returns and invoices.
Participate in weekly staff safety meetings.
Provide office support services to department staff.
Interact courteously and cooperatively with citizens, visitors, and City staff; maintain confidentiality of work-related issues and City information.
Perform other duties as required or assigned.
May be required to work during emergencies to support public safety and the delivery or restoration of vital services.
