About The Position

The Solon Service Department is hiring a full-time Parts Runner to provide operational and logistical support to the department. The role supports mechanics and staff by coordinating parts, transporting vehicles, maintaining inventory, and performing light mechanical work to help ensure efficient fleet operations. The position is Civil Service and belongs to a bargaining unit. It is slotted at Pay Grade 1 under the Service Department Union contract, with a minimum starting hourly pay of $22.5018 with a CDL. Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B.
• At least two years of driving experience.
• Basic knowledge of automotive and mechanical parts.

• Experience with inventory control.

Responsibilities

• Pick up and deliver parts, equipment, and vehicles.
• Assist mechanics and support daily shop operations.
• Maintain inventory and restock parts.
• Perform light vehicle maintenance, including oil changes, tire work, and light work.
• Keep the shop clean and organized.
• Complete paperwork and assist with scheduling.
• Respond to seasonal duties such as snow and ice work and leaf collection, and perform emergency overtime.
