About The Position

The Parts Counter Associate sells parts to retail and shop customers over the counter, through the shop, and by phone. The role assists customers in selecting required parts, provides quotes and product information, and helps ensure customers are aware of companion parts and the full product line. It also supports order fulfillment, inventory replenishment, special orders, paperwork, payment processing, and coordination with the parts manager, vendors, body shops, and outside sales representatives.

Requirements

• Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to maintain a professional image and demeanor.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong computer and phone skills, including Internet and MS Outlook.
• Must be at least eighteen years of age.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Must pass pre-employment screening, including a background check and drug test.

Nice To Haves

• Proficiency in CDK.
• A degree in automotive technology or military equivalent experience.
• Bilingual ability.

Responsibilities

• Assist retail and shop customers in selecting required parts in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner.
• Answer phone calls and counter inquiries, providing price quotes and other information.
• Inform customers about companion part requirements and specials, and expose them to the full product line.
• Review body shop estimates to verify parts orders and pricing when applicable.
• Pull and fill orders from stock.
• Notify the parts manager of out-of-stock parts or shop materials needing immediate attention.
• Notify the necessary parties when special-ordered parts arrive.
• Tag parts orders with customer names and job numbers.
• Follow department policies and instructions for special orders and special-order aging.
• Follow up on back-ordered parts and replenish assigned inventory daily.
• Maintain a prompt, efficient, and timely flow of paperwork.
• Ensure internal parts requests are billed on service repair orders.
• Verify will-call and back-order files weekly, returning items to vendors or stocking items not picked up or required.
• Receive payment from retail customers or obtain credit authorization.
• Assist outside sales representatives with their orders.
