About The Position

Protege is hiring a Partnerships Manager focused on healthcare administrative and operations data to help customers and prospects access high-value, rights-protected data for AI training, post-training, evaluation, and workflow development. The role sits at the intersection of customers, commercial teams, Data Lab, Solutions, Privacy and Legal, Operations, and healthcare data partners. It turns healthcare data needs into sourcing strategies, identifies and qualifies supply paths, and advances opportunities through diligence, contracting, activation, and handoff. The role focuses on administrative and operational data rather than primarily clinical or diagnostic datasets. Relevant areas include eligibility and enrollment, claims and revenue cycle, prior authorization and utilization management, scheduling and care coordination, provider operations, contact centers, pharmacy and laboratory workflows, health plan and employer administration, and EHR or practice-management workflows. This generalist position combines reactive sourcing for active customer and prospect opportunities with proactive development of relationships across healthcare organizations, technology companies, data aggregators, brokers, and channel partners. The Partnerships Manager prioritizes opportunities based on customer value, data quality, privacy and rights standards, feasibility, delivery readiness, and commercial potential. The role also develops repeatable healthcare-specific sourcing, qualification, privacy, sample-review, and handoff processes.

Requirements

  • Experience in partnerships, business development, strategic sourcing, enterprise sales, marketplace development, procurement, healthcare operations, or a similarly commercial and relationship-oriented function.
  • A track record of taking ambiguous opportunities from an initial question to a concrete plan, aligned stakeholders, and measurable progress.
  • Strong commercial judgment and the ability to determine whether a healthcare data partner merits investment, including comfort declining weak-fit opportunities.
  • Experience navigating multi-stakeholder work with external partners and internal technical, commercial, privacy, legal, security, and operational teams.
  • Ability to qualify healthcare data opportunities by asking practical questions about workflow, data generation, quality, provenance, rights, privacy, scale, timeline, economics, and decision-makers.
  • Sufficient healthcare fluency to understand how administrative and operational data is created, where it may be incomplete or biased, and how workflow context affects usefulness.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain nuanced healthcare data, AI training, privacy, and commercial considerations to varied audiences.
  • Operational rigor in pipeline and relationship management, including accurate records, clear ownership, crisp next steps, and consistent follow-through.
  • Comfort working with an incomplete playbook and changing priorities as customer demand emerges.
  • Bias toward action and persistence in moving complex work forward without unnecessary friction.
  • Ability to build external partner trust while protecting standards for rights, privacy, security, quality, delivery, and commercial sustainability.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with healthcare administrative, claims, payer, provider, revenue-cycle, prior-authorization, scheduling, call-center, pharmacy, laboratory, imaging, or care-management data.
  • Experience working with health systems, provider groups, payers, TPAs, MSOs, healthcare technology vendors, digital health companies, or other healthcare organizations with operational data.
  • Existing relationships with healthcare data holders, aggregators, brokers, technology vendors, or workflow operators.
  • Experience with data licensing, AI/ML infrastructure, model development, evaluation, human data, or a two-sided marketplace.
  • Experience evaluating samples or data products with technical, analytics, clinical, privacy, security, or operations teams.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, PHI, PII, de-identification, tokenization, linkage, consent, data-use agreements, business-associate requirements, intellectual property, licensing restrictions, or exclusivity structures.
  • Experience assessing data representativeness, missingness, label quality, longitudinal continuity, entity resolution, workflow coverage, or sampling bias.
  • Experience building partner programs, sourcing channels, pricing frameworks, qualification systems, privacy checklists, or other operating infrastructure from scratch.
  • Experience working across multiple healthcare subsectors, workflows, or modalities rather than owning only one narrowly defined category.

Responsibilities

  • Translate customer and prospect needs into detailed healthcare data sourcing briefs covering workflow, population, modality, data elements, granularity, volume, format, geography, time period, refresh cadence, use case, rights requirements, and success criteria.
  • Build and maintain a working map of healthcare administrative and operations data supply and relevant partner paths.
  • Source and build trusted relationships with organizations holding operationally rich healthcare data.
  • Conduct partner discovery and qualification to understand workflows, data generation, represented entities and events, linkage, available fields and labels, and transformations.
  • Evaluate whether datasets capture real operational work, including queues, decisions, handoffs, exceptions, outcomes, timestamps, and longitudinal context where appropriate.
  • Assess privacy, security, and rights considerations, including PHI and PII exposure, de-identification, re-identification risk, consent or notice, downstream restrictions, data-use agreements, business-associate requirements, and AI-training or evaluation restrictions.
  • Prioritize opportunities based on demand, strategic value, uniqueness, quality, representativeness, feasibility, rights posture, delivery readiness, and commercial relationship potential.
  • Own partner progression from initial conversation through NDA, sample intake, privacy and legal diligence, Data Lab evaluation, deal structuring, contracting, activation, and handoff.
  • Coordinate with Commercial, Data Lab, Solutions, Privacy, Security, Legal, Product, and Operations to progress opportunities while managing delivery, rights, privacy, and pricing risks.
  • Support customer and prospect deals by finding viable data paths, setting expectations about coverage and limitations, and aligning stakeholders on next steps.
  • Help structure licensing, channel, co-development, exclusivity, data-contribution, and other commercial arrangements, using standard terms and pricing guardrails where possible.
  • Maintain current records of partner capabilities, workflow coverage, data elements, sourcing requests, qualification status, samples, risks, approvals, next steps, and commercial readiness.
  • Develop repeatable sourcing workflows, qualification criteria, partner-intake processes, privacy and rights checklists, sample-review standards, and handoff requirements.
  • Share market intelligence with leadership, Data Lab, Product, and Commercial about customer needs, emerging supply, partner economics, and data gaps.
  • Build partner trust through clear communication, a thoughtful process, and a credible path to value.
  • Establish visibility into active healthcare data requests, learn Protege's sourcing and review processes, map priority partner categories, and independently conduct initial partner conversations.
  • Convert requests into sourcing plans, move priority partners through diligence and evaluation, and document reusable qualification, sample-review, privacy-intake, and handoff workflows.
  • Build a prioritized partner pipeline, progress opportunities to activation or documented decisions, and provide a 90-day assessment of sourcing effectiveness and scaling needs.
