About The Position

The Department of Elementary & Bilingual Education at CSU Fullerton is seeking applications for its Part-Time Lecturer Clinical Coach Pool. This pool is for experienced part-time teachers to serve as clinical coaches for student teaching within the Elementary Credential program. Qualified applicants will be contacted as needed, and appointments are temporary, often made on short notice before the academic term begins. The need for part-time faculty is greatest in the Fall and Spring semesters, with occasional needs during Summer Sessions. Appointments are made under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the California Faculty Association, with initial appointments lasting for one semester.

Requirements

  • Current or expired clear multiple subject teaching credential with 3 years’ experience OR 3 years’ equivalent experience working with preK-8 students in diverse settings.
  • Committed to Just, Equitable, and Inclusive education.
  • Knowledge of the current context of public schooling including the California adopted P-12 content standards, frameworks, and accountability systems.
  • Knowledgeable of Teacher Performance Expectations (TPE) and able to support candidate development pertaining to the TPE’s and TPA’s.
  • Knowledge of diversity in society, including diverse abilities, culture, language, ethnicity, and gender orientation.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with students from intersecting historically marginalized social groups using innovative instructional approaches and methods.
  • Committed to ongoing professional development to maintain currency in the field, including effective use of technology.
  • Ability to use current technologies to effectively communicate and share documents with candidates and mentor teachers.
  • Must be available on very short notice.
  • Mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse And Neglect Reporting Act.
  • Must complete a satisfactory background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in education or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience using anti-racist teaching and social justice pedagogies.
  • Bilingual or Biliterate or have experience working with bilingual/biliterate students.
  • Experience with supporting teachers, teacher candidates and/or new teachers.
  • Active in subject matter professional organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a clinical coach for student teaching in the Elementary Credential program.
  • Support candidate development pertaining to Teacher Performance Expectations (TPE) and Teacher Performance Assessments (TPA).
  • Use current technologies to effectively communicate and share documents with candidates and mentor teachers.
  • Collaborate and innovate to prepare educators in existing programs.
  • Provide fair, respectful, non-discriminatory, equitable, inclusive, and humanizing learning environments.
  • Teach through an anti-racist lens using culturally and linguistically relevant strategies, including educational technologies and community engagement.
  • Support students, teachers, and leaders as citizens in a highly diverse, global, interconnected, and digital world.
