About The Position

The Department of Secondary Education at CSU Fullerton is seeking applications for its Part-Time Lecturer Teacher Candidate Supervisor/Clinical Coach Pool. This pool will be used to draw upon experienced and student-centered individuals for the Single-Subject Credential Program. Observations of teacher candidates will occur at school sites in and around Orange County, and potentially parts of Riverside and/or LA Counties. Supervisors/clinical coaches must be available during school hours (e.g., 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM) and have reliable transportation to school sites. Appointments from this pool are temporary and may be made on short notice, prior to the start of an academic term.

Requirements

  • Current or expired clear single subject teaching credential (in the subject area of supervision) with 3 years of experience OR 3 years of equivalent experience working with students aged 12-20 in diverse settings.
  • Commitment to Just, Equitable, and Inclusive education.
  • Recent professional experience in school settings using CA content standards and frameworks.
  • Recent professional experience in school settings that reflect the diversity of California's student population.
  • Knowledge of diversity in society, including diverse abilities, culture, language, ethnicity, and gender orientation.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with students from intersecting historically marginalized social groups using innovative instructional approaches and methods.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development to maintain currency in the field, including effective use of technology.
  • Knowledgeable of Teacher Performance Expectations (TPE) and able to support candidate development pertaining to the TPE’s and TPA’s.
  • Must be available during school hours (e.g., 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM).
  • Must have the means to travel to school sites for observations.
  • Must be available on very short notice.

Nice To Haves

  • At least an MA/MS degree in education or related to the credential discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience using anti-racist teaching and social justice pedagogies.
  • Bilingual or Biliterate or have experience working with bilingual/biliterate students.
  • Knowledge of California Teaching Performance Expectations.
  • Experience with supporting or mentoring teachers, teacher candidates, and/or new teachers with the implementation of discipline-specific pedagogy.
  • Active in subject matter or educational professional organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise teacher candidates in the Single-Subject Credential Program.
  • Conduct observations of teacher candidates at school sites.
  • Provide support and guidance to teacher candidates related to the Teacher Performance Expectations (TPE) and TPA's.
  • Ensure commitment to Just, Equitable, and Inclusive education.
  • Utilize innovative instructional approaches and methods when working with students.
  • Maintain currency in the field through ongoing professional development, including technology use.
