About the position
The job overview for the Cybersecurity Engineering Technical Coach position at Flatiron School is to work directly with students, acting as supplementary instructors and guiding them through the curriculum. The technical coaches help students uncover solutions to technical labs and assignments by providing directed inquiries and hints. They also have opportunities to provide additional support through hosting office hours, leading concept reviews, and answering questions during lab work time. The responsibilities include guiding students through technical challenges, deepening their understanding of cybersecurity concepts, and evaluating student knowledge. The role requires strong communication skills, a service-oriented mindset, and knowledge/experience in network security, systems security, cryptography, and other related areas. The expected compensation is $29.5K for the full engagement.
Responsibilities
- Guide students through technical challenges in the Cybersecurity Engineering curriculum
- Help students deepen their understanding of Cybersecurity concepts
- Provide feedback to evaluate student knowledge of specific content areas
- Inspire and energize students to build their confidence

- Pilot experimental efforts to provide the best experience and positive outcomes
- Lead study groups, office hours, and concept reviews to deepen students' understanding

- Familiarity with operating systems, networking tools, and performance monitoring
- Familiarity with Wireshark, Command Line Network Tools, Vulnerability, and SPLUNK

- Knowledge in SIEM, system/application monitoring, and performance tools
- Applied knowledge in GRC and RMF
- Applied cryptography and cryptographic protocols
- Application development using Python
