About The Position

The Barista creates an exceptional guest experience through outstanding hospitality, product quality, and efficient café operations. The role prepares high-quality coffee, tea, and food offerings while fostering a welcoming and energetic environment for guests and team members. The ideal candidate is collaborative, adaptable, and passionate about hospitality, teamwork, and memorable customer experiences.

The position is based in Calabasas and reports to the Cafe Manager. It is non-exempt and pays $18.67 per hour plus tips, approximately $22.50–$26.50 per hour.

Requirements

• Flexibility to attend quarterly team meetings, trainings, or company events that may occasionally occur outside regular scheduled shifts.
• Reliable attendance and consistent availability, including a minimum commitment of three shifts per week.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds without assistance.
• Ability to move quickly and efficiently throughout the café.
• Strong close-range vision and attention to detail for drink preparation, cash handling, and order accuracy.
• Ability to bend, squat, reach, and perform cleaning, stocking, and other operational tasks as needed.
• Ability to remain on feet for extended periods during scheduled shifts.
• Ability to operate a POS system, cash register, or tablet device to process customer orders and payments accurately.
• Hand dexterity and coordination to safely and efficiently operate espresso machines, steamers, grinders, and other café equipment.

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests warmly and deliver an elevated customer experience.
• Guide customers through beverage and food offerings, answer questions, and build rapport.
• Handle phone inquiries, accurately process orders, and support mobile ordering.
• Maintain a calm, professional, and welcoming presence during high-volume periods.
• Prepare consistent, high-quality beverages and food items according to company recipes and standards.
• Operate, clean, and maintain coffee equipment, and keep preparation areas clean, organized, and sanitary.
• Develop knowledge of coffee and tea origins, flavor profiles, and preparation methods.
• Contribute to a positive team environment through active listening, clear communication, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
• Partner with leadership and teammates to address operational needs and maintain consistency across shifts.
• Keep the café clean, organized, and stocked throughout each shift.
• Assist with inventory, restocking, deliveries, and overall café upkeep.
• Follow company policies and procedures, including those in the employee handbook.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, hygiene, and café organization procedures.
• Report safety hazards, incidents, or operational concerns to Management.
• Complete additional tasks that may be assigned to meet company goals.
