About The Position

Solvay is hiring a Silica Packager in its Materials department, which has over 50 people and focuses on safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance at the operations site. The position involves three assignments: the bagging system, super-sack filling, and bulk loading. The role contributes to the Silica organization and Solvay’s transformation journey.

For the bagging system assignment, the Packager changes over or shuts down the automatic bagging system and empties and purges product from it. The position is at-will and follows an on-site working mode with a 7-day swing shift schedule. The role offers base pay of $35.00 to $36.82 per hour, with actual compensation dependent on skills and experience, and may include a bonus and/or other incentives.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Able to monitor operation of all equipment.
• Willing to work shift work and overtime.
• Able to recalibrate and reset scales as needed.
• Attention to detail.
• Punctuality.
• Organization.

Responsibilities

• Change over or shut down the automatic bagging system.
• Empty and purge product from the bagging system.
• Adjust system parameters, such as fill rate and bag weights, as needed to achieve quality and productivity.
• Perform minor mechanical work on equipment when changing to a different bag or product, or as part of shutdown procedures.
• Perform minor preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment.
• Monitor operation of all equipment.
• Recalibrate and reset scales as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
