Senior Fullstack Engineer (F/M/X)

About The Position

WeMaintain is hiring a Senior Fullstack Engineer for its Product & Engineering team. This is a fully remote, Europe-wide, hands-on individual-contributor role with no direct reports. The engineer owns work from the initial problem statement through solution design, implementation, and production, partnering with product managers, engineers, company leadership, and operational teams. The team forms small, bespoke groups around topics and collaborates across different areas rather than working within a fixed squad structure. The role reports to the VP of Engineering and joins a 20-person Product & Engineering team that plans to grow by 50% over the next year. The position works across the stack. WeMaintain uses TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, microservices in a monorepo, a federated GraphQL API, AWS infrastructure-as-code with EKS and Lambda, PostgreSQL with TypeORM, dbt on BigQuery, Looker, and an in-house time-series engine. Its maintained front ends include Angular micro-frontends for back-office and customer platforms, and a React Native app used by field engineers. Experience with these specific technologies is not required if the candidate has built and owned equivalent systems elsewhere. Potential work includes structuring lift-failure reports to support automated diagnosis and quoting; turning high-volume IoT signals into actionable information for field engineers; and introducing useful agent-in-the-loop workflows into back-office operations. The engineer is also encouraged to improve engineering standards, tooling, the monorepo, developer experience, and production resilience. The role is fully remote, with the team working in a virtual office and on Discord, and meeting in person at least three times per year. English is the working language. Compensation is country-adjusted: €70,000–€95,000 base salary in Europe, or £75,000–£95,000 in the United Kingdom, depending on location, experience, ownership, and demonstrated impact.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience building and operating production software.
  • Experience owning work from problem statement through production, rather than only working from tickets to merged pull requests.
  • Comfort working across the stack, with flexibility about which layer to work on.
  • Strong TypeScript skills and a deep conceptual understanding of modern backend architecture.
  • Care about software usefulness and engineering quality.
  • Ability to communicate directly with non-technical stakeholders, understand their needs, and propose appropriate solutions.
  • Comfort and initiative working in a fully remote environment.
  • English proficiency for the role's working language.

Nice To Haves

  • An ownership mindset, such as having started, run, or helped build an organization or product, and judging work by its impact.
  • Experience shipping a React Native app used regularly by people in difficult conditions.
  • Experience in an operations-heavy industry such as field service, logistics, industrial, or energy.
  • Experience putting AI-driven workflows into production.
  • Experience building internal tooling, code generation, or developer-experience improvements adopted by other engineers.
  • Experience with IoT, telemetry, or time-series data at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Own features end to end, from defining the problem and shaping a solution through implementation and production release.
  • Work across the full stack and take responsibility for both backend and frontend work as needed.
  • Collaborate with product managers, the CTO, the CPO, engineers, and operational stakeholders to frame problems and determine what should be built.
  • Improve engineering standards, tooling, the monorepo, developer experience, and production resilience.
  • Contribute to product and engineering work involving failure-taxonomy normalization, IoT telemetry, and agent-in-the-loop operational workflows.
  • Use AI tools appropriately to support engineering work and explore useful product capabilities.

Benefits

  • Fully remote work across Europe.
  • In-person team gatherings at least three times a year.
  • Opportunities for growth and internal mobility.
  • Autonomy with modern tools and strong support.
