Senior Principal, Technology Consulting (m/f/x)

AmaliTech•Houston, TX
•Hybrid

About The Position

AmaliTech is building a technology consulting practice focused on private-equity-backed companies and technology-enabled value creation. Founded in 2026, the practice is growing rapidly, and the role offers an opportunity to help shape its operating model, methodologies, team structure, propositions, and client portfolio. The Senior Principal will combine strategic advice to senior executives and investors with ownership of technical implementation and delivery oversight. Typical engagements include identifying technology-enabled value creation opportunities; building data platforms and AI-driven analytics; developing KPI dashboards and reporting for senior management and investors; delivering AI-enabled applications and automation; and overseeing large transformation programs such as ERP migrations. The role involves growing into ownership of client relationships and leading engagements end to end, with initial support from the CEO and COO. It also includes commercial and practice development, translating between business requirements and technical delivery, guiding AI-forward work, and leading cross-functional teams based in African delivery centres. The role contributes to developing technology professionals in Ghana and Rwanda and building globally competitive technology ecosystems. The position is hybrid and based in Germany or the US, with regular presence at the Cologne or Houston office and occasional travel to client sites and teams in Ghana and Rwanda. Travel is described as focused and periodic rather than weekly client-site travel.

Requirements

  • 3–7 years of relevant experience; trajectory is valued more than years served.
  • Relevant foundation in technology consulting, digital transformation, technology-enabled delivery, IT program management, ERP transformation, or an adjacent field.
  • Demonstrated project management rigour, including experience running structured PMO processes on complex, multi-workstream engagements.
  • A bias for ownership and comfort taking on ambiguous problems without waiting for a framework or sign-off.
  • Genuine interest in delivery, including being involved through go-live rather than only recommendation stages.
  • Ability to translate between business and technical stakeholders and credible familiarity with technical delivery.
  • Evidence of independently managing senior client stakeholders, with judgment and presence to grow into ownership of C-level relationships.
  • Commercial instinct: understanding client value and sustainable engagement economics, spotting opportunities, managing scope, and contributing to follow-on work.
  • Passion for team development and intercultural collaboration, including developing colleagues from Ghana and Rwanda.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior exposure to private-equity portfolio companies, including value creation planning, 100-day plans, due diligence, or investor/deal-team reporting.
  • Experience implementing an ERP system or major enterprise system of record.
  • German language fluency.
  • Experience directing distributed or offshore/nearshore delivery teams.
  • Exposure to applied AI or automation initiatives in enterprise settings.

Responsibilities

  • Grow into primary ownership of selected client relationships, initially working alongside the CEO and COO.
  • Lead engagements end to end, including scope, timeline, budget, and risk.
  • Manage escalations directly, including underperforming vendors or workstreams.
  • Identify follow-on opportunities, shape proposals and scopes, and protect engagement economics.
  • Help develop the technology consulting practice, including developing junior and mid-level consultants in Ghana and Rwanda.
  • Translate business requirements into scoped, deliverable work for engineering teams and explain technical constraints in actionable terms to clients.
  • Help clients identify valuable uses for AI and automation and ensure delivery teams build toward them.
  • Lead cross-functional delivery teams, including engineers, business analysts, and data specialists, based in African delivery centres.
  • Advise on and deliver technology-enabled value creation, including data platforms, AI analytics, KPI reporting, AI-enabled applications, automation, and transformation programs.

Benefits

  • Early ownership and opportunity to shape a new practice, with flat hierarchies, quick decisions, and low bureaucracy.
  • Opportunity to own client accounts, oversee delivery teams, and contribute to business development.
  • Accelerated leadership trajectory toward leading engagements, owning client relationships, and helping build a consulting practice.
  • Direct senior mentorship and support from the CEO and COO.
  • Use of AI for client value creation and within the company’s delivery model, alongside partners including AWS, Microsoft, and Anthropic.
  • International exposure and regular, focused travel opportunities.
  • Mission-driven work supporting technology ecosystems and career opportunities in sub-Saharan Africa.
