Part-Time Package Handler

About The Position

The Part-Time Package Handler loads, unloads, and sorts freight accurately and promptly to support quick delivery. The role is based on a Tuesday–Saturday schedule with a 4:00 AM start and pays $19.00–$24.25 per hour, depending on experience. Starting pay is determined by relevant experience, qualifications, skills, and internal equity; employees are generally hired below the range maximum, with increases based on company policies, performance, and individual development. The position is pay grade A and is classified as nonexempt. Work includes handling freight by hand, scanning and sorting packages, stacking freight in trailers and routes, washing fleet vehicles as needed, and performing light custodial work. Applicants must be at least 16 years old and able to meet the physical requirements. A criminal background check is required.

Requirements

At least 16 years of age.
Ability to communicate verbally, manage time efficiently, and stay organized with attention to detail.
Ability to read labels at a fast pace and work independently.
Ability to bend, lift, twist, carry, and slide freight.
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
Ability to work with freight that may include hazardous materials, perishable food, alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

Unload packages by hand from fleet vehicles.
Scan package barcode labels while unloading for tracking purposes.
Sort packages by zip code, city, or state.
Stack freight into trailers and routes to prevent damage and use space efficiently.
Wash fleet vehicles as needed to maintain the company image.
Perform light custodial duties to maintain a clean and safe warehouse environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
