Outside Sales Representative

National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB)•City of Poughkeepsie, NY

About The Position

NFIB is hiring a field-based, business-to-business Outside Sales Representative to drive new membership growth through prospecting, area management, and face-to-face sales. The representative meets directly with small business owners, presents NFIB’s advocacy mission and membership benefits, identifies business needs, handles objections, and enrolls new members. This is a hunter/closer role using a structured sales process and an assumptive one-call close; there is no account management after the sale, allowing the representative to focus on prospecting, selling, and growing membership. The role offers a 100% commission compensation plan with uncapped earning potential. Average annual earnings are listed as $80,000–$200,000+. Performance-based training pay is available for up to 13 weeks at $1,000 per week or commissions earned, whichever is greater. Commissions are paid weekly, with monthly and quarterly bonuses, and monthly mileage reimbursement. NFIB also provides sales training, professional development, and a flexible, self-directed work environment with significant independence. Employees are W-2 and eligible for full benefits after 30 days. NFIB is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, member-driven organization that advocates for independent business owners through public policy work, public awareness, and member engagement. The organization describes itself as the Voice of Small Business and says it has represented independent business owners for more than 80 years.
