About The Position

Ferguson is hiring an Outside Sales Representative for its Commercial/Mechanical business. This is a field-based sales role supporting customers in the San Diego and Palm Springs area, and the representative must be based in the San Diego area. The role focuses on developing customer and vendor relationships, growing the customer base, supporting sales from quotation through delivery, and contributing to sales results. A fuel card, auto allowance, travel and expense card, company cell phone, and laptop will be provided. The position is base-plus-commission eligible, with no cap on commission. Estimated total compensation, based on performance and experience, is $75,000–$100,000 or more.

Requirements

A minimum of 5 years of industry-related sales experience is preferred.
Results-oriented and self-motivated, with the ability to complete tasks in a timely manner, build relationships, and work in a team environment.
Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
Problem-solving, leadership, and listening skills.
General digital literacy.
Ability to multitask and learn quickly.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and an assigned customer base, working with branch associates to ensure satisfaction with products and services from order through delivery and beyond.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the customer base, working with management on sales strategies and new-account targeting.
Provide product quotations and resolve problems.
Analyze competition in the territory, devise a sales strategy, and communicate it to management.
Continually improve sales skills and product knowledge to promote a professional image in the field.
Document sales activity in Salesforce to support evaluation of the new-business pipeline and measurement of sales closures.
