The OS&D Technician is a critical control point in the integrity of freight operations, resolving overage, shortage, and damage exceptions to protect customer trust and operational efficiency. The role investigates lost, damaged, or unaccounted freight, determines appropriate disposition, and maintains accurate documentation supporting claims, billing, and operational performance. It is based onsite at Roadrunner’s San Francisco, California location and involves work in both an indoor office setting and on the service center dock. The technician serves as the primary point of contact for OS&D inquiries from shippers and internal stakeholders; checks the dock and analyzes records to locate missing freight; and coordinates disposition actions with shippers. The role also oversees the identification, staging, tracking, and handling of exception freight, working with dock and operations teams to improve accountability and reduce dwell time. The position requires precise, timely documentation and accurate data entry in internal platforms and databases, as well as communication with customers, terminals, service centers, corporate teams, sales, and customer service. The technician follows company procedures and audit expectations, contributes to process improvements, and supports a performance-driven, accountable team environment. Pay is $18.00–$20.00 per hour. Roadrunner offers a full benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid time off. Physical requirements include regular sitting, reaching and handling items, finger use, talking and hearing, and keyboard use; occasional standing and walking; and possible lifting up to 20 pounds. Work may involve walking on a concrete dock and uneven footing around pallets, and exposure to extreme heat or cold, dirt, and slippery surfaces.
