About The Position

This is a 3-month contract position for an Orthopedic Surgery Clinic Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA). The role is located in an outpatient clinic setting, seeing an average of 21 patients per day, with a focus on Hand, Joints, and Sports patients. The schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with no weekends or call required. The patient population includes adults and geriatrics. The clinic uses EPIC for its EMR system. This position is to cover while a long-term permanent search is conducted. The contract length is 3 months with the potential to extend.

Requirements

  • Active Georgia licensure
  • Board certification
  • AHA BLS certification
  • Minimum 1-year Orthopedic Surgery experience or equivalent
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics) OR Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program
  • Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license in Georgia OR Active and unencumbered physician assistant (PA) license in Georgia
  • National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP]) OR National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Strong clinical knowledge and assessment skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients
  • Proficiency in performing physical examinations and procedures relevant to their specialty
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to diagnose and manage complex medical conditions
  • Time management skills to efficiently manage a patient workload
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a healthcare team

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
  • Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices
  • Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
  • Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
