About The Position

This is an ongoing coverage need for a Trauma Surgery NP/PA. The role involves inpatient, OR, and call coverage, with an average of 15-20 patients per day. The Trauma Surgeon is on-call off-site. The practice setting is for adult and geriatric patients. The position requires a night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM and utilizes the Cerner EMR system. This is a long-term permanent search for coverage.

Requirements

• Active Michigan licensure
• Board certification
• AHA BLS, ACLS and ATLS certifications
• Minimum 1-year General Surgery experience or equivalent
• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics) OR Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program
• Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license in Michigan OR Active and unencumbered physician assistant (PA) license in Michigan
• National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP]) OR National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
• At least one year of experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests
• Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
• Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices
• Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
• Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
