Orthodontic Assistant (RDA) – Bring Your RDA, We'll Bring the Ortho
About The Position
Segal and Iyer Orthodontics is seeking a Registered Dental Assistant to join its clinical team in Marlton, New Jersey. Orthodontic experience is not required; the practice is willing to train a motivated RDA in orthodontic instruments, appliances, workflows, and software through hands-on training with orthodontists and the experienced clinical team. The role offers the opportunity to develop specialty skills while building ongoing relationships with patients and helping them progress through treatment. The assistant will provide hands-on patient care, run their chair and support the appointment schedule, take photos, impressions, and radiographs, and educate patients and parents about oral hygiene, elastics, and retainer wear. The position also includes maintaining clean, stocked operatories and sterilization areas, following infection-control and OSHA procedures, and accurately charting in the practice management system. The role is full-time and in-person.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Active New Jersey Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) registration in good standing.
- New Jersey Dental Radiologic Technologist license.
- Current BLS/CPR certification.
- Eagerness to learn a new specialty.
- Orthodontic experience is not required.
Nice To Haves
- Orthodontic experience.
- Experience with Cloud 9, Dolphin, Ortho2, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar software.
Responsibilities
- Learn to assist with bonding, wire changes, adjustments, debonds, and appliance delivery, then perform hands-on work permitted by the RDA's scope.
- Seat patients, guide them through visits, and keep the appointment schedule moving.
- Take photos, impressions, and radiographs.
- Coach patients and parents on brushing around brackets, elastics, and retainer wear.
- Keep operatories and sterilization areas clean and stocked, and follow infection-control and OSHA requirements.
- Chart accurately in the practice management system.
