About The Position

An Optometric Technician assists an optometrist in delivering a Total Patient Experience. The role handles a broad range of duties and uses optical equipment to perform initial testing and prepare patients for an exam with an optometrist. Work is primarily performed in a standard office or clinical setting, though travel to other locations may be required to carry out essential duties.

Requirements

At least one year in a role interacting with customers or patients, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
High school diploma or GED.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Favorable background-check result as required by the state.
Proof of identity and authorization to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

Previous medical office experience preferred.
Previous ophthalmic experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Deliver the Total Patient Experience and build relationships with patients while providing medical support.
Comply with company policies and procedures, including HIPAA.
Work with urgency and respect patients’ time and the doctor’s schedule.
Operate a manual lensometer, auto-lensometer, autorefractor/keratometer, retinal camera, visual field equipment, and GDX or OCT.
Follow equipment-testing scripts for photos, visual fields, visual acuity, and other tests.
Clean examination equipment, including the tonometer tip.
Interact courteously and professionally with employees at all levels.
Perform general office duties and cleaning as assigned by the manager.
Help maintain a positive, team-oriented, patient-focused work environment.
Work hours that meet business needs, which may include weekends, schedule changes, or an extended schedule.
